Dr. Barbara M. Knust, epidemiologist in the Viral Special Pathogens Branch of the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, briefly reviews her career and then describes her involvement in CDC's response to and scientific initiatives regarding the 2014-16 Ebola epidemic. Dr. Knust served as an epidemiologist and Ebola subject matter expert at CDC headquarters in Atlanta, Georgia; the lead epidemiologist of a CDC team in Ohio; and the principal investigator of the Sierra Leone Ebola Virus Persistence Study in Freetown, Sierra Leone.
